“LEVERAGING CDL’S EXPERTISE IN PIONEERING SUSTAINABLE BUILDING INNOVATIONS, WE CONTINUE TO SHAPE A CLIMATE-RESILIENT CITYSCAPE AND CREATE VALUE THROUGH OUR ICONIC GREEN DEVELOPMENTS”through innovative business approaches and partnerships in finding solutions for the world’s economic, social and environmental challenges. INNOVATION FOR A CLIMATE-RESILIENT FUTUREOur deep commitment to sustainable development has continued to lead us to deliver environmental value through innovative design and game-changing building methodology. One recent example of resource and productivity improvements in-built into our development process is the implementation of the advanced Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) methodology. Our 638-unit The Brownstone residential development, will utilise some 5,000 building modules, likely the largest application of PPVC of its kind in the world. Compared to conventional construction methods, PPVC is expected to improve quality, while enhancing productivity by more than 40 per cent with some 55,000 man days saved. Leveraging our expertise in pioneering sustainable building innovations, we collaborated with the National University of Singapore (NUS) in March 2016, to establish two new first-of-their-kind research programmes – the NUS-CDL Smart Green Home and NUS-CDL Tropical Technologies Laboratory (T2 Lab). Together, the research facilities will unlock many exciting possibilities, from smart building interiors to responsive facade and building materials. These innovations could be pilot tested in our future residential developments.CREATING VALUE FOR THE FUTUREBeyond shaping Singapore’s built environment with green architectural icons, we have also leveraged our expertise to create sustainable community showcases in partnership with civic institutions. Our latest such project is the Singapore Sustainability Academy, launched in August 2016, in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore. A ground-up initiative in support of Singapore’s goals to tackle climate change, the Academy will focus on the key areas of advocacy, building capacity and collaboration, education and training, information and resource as well as user engagement. The creation of this sustainable training and networking facility, converted from a little utilised roof terrace at our Eco-mall, exemplifies CDL’s inherent ability to create value through innovation and collaborative partnerships. Building on our two-decade commitment towards sustainable development, we continue with our thrust towards shaping a climate-resilient cityscape. Because ‘Building Value for Tomorrow, Today’ is at the heart of all that we do. ■ABOUT THE AUTHORMr Grant Kelley was appointed as CDL’s Chief Executive Officer in 2014.
